Robert Gater

Rob is a sedimentologist and reservoir geologist with over 16 years of experience specialising in clastic and carbonate systems. His technical expertise encompasses detailed core description, facies analysis, sequence stratigraphy and reservoir characterisation across a wide range of depositional settings worldwide. Rob integrates sedimentological observations with well logs, biostratigraphy, seismic interpretation and geochemistry to develop robust depositional models, correlation frameworks and geological maps. He is also an experienced petrographer, with specialist knowledge of diagenetic evolution and porosity history modelling. This breadth of experience enables him to provide practical, technically robust solutions tailored to each client's geological and reservoir challenges.

In addition to his project work, Rob is passionate about technical knowledge sharing and professional development. He has mentored junior geoscientists, developed training materials and delivered courses in core description, sequence stratigraphy and applied sedimentology. Rob works closely with clients from project scoping through to delivery, ensuring that technical objectives are clearly understood and the most effective geological solutions are achieved.

  • Delivered core description, ichnology and facies analysis for international exploration and development projects; evaluated reservoir quality through petrographic, textural and diagenetic studies.
